The item is historically known as a monogram motif and used as a recognisable symbol of a couple or union. Your free-standing carving is hand designed, taking many hours to create to ensure each piece is a truly unique one-off.
The ‘&’ Ampersand symbol will be hand-carved in the centre as the two letters meet, or on the thickest centre point. The date or year will appear below the ‘&’ symbol where possible. A date will appear in a day/month/year format (i.e. 1st of June 2011 will appear as 1/6/11). In some cases where the shape of the letters are too small, the date will appear on the thickest part of the letter.
The design of each linked letters is carefully considered by our experienced team to ensure the letter layout and the way they merge together are looking at it’s best. If you wish to be a part of this process please make a request via an order enquiry to view the designs, which will then be sent to you for you to approve. Once the design meets your approval our carver will start chipping away
Please note, all initials are carved as capitals only.
The Sapele hardwood is often used in acoustic guitars for it beautiful colour, wood grain and durability. The wood is slightly darker than the oak choice and available in both regular and large.
The carving is approximately 18 cm tall, 3.5cm deep and as long as it needs to be to ensure the letters are perfect (Normally under 35cm wide).
